Story Hour FAQ
What is Story Hour anyway?
Story Hour is simply a fun way for your child to become familiar with the library and to experience the world of books.
Who can come to Story Hour?
Story Hour is designed for 3, 4, & 5 year olds. Songs, stories, crafts and finger plays are geared toward those age levels.
What exactly do you do in Story Hour?
We sing songs, read stories, and do a craft. We might even have puppets, flannel graphs, games or snacks depending on the book for the day.
Do I need to stay with my child during Story Hour?
Parents and caregivers are welcome to stay during Story Hour. Tonya does ask that parents or caregivers remain at the library while your child is in Story Hour.
How long does Story Hour last?
Story Hour programs begin in September and end in May. Sessions are every Friday and begin at 10:30 a.m. and last 45 minutes to an hour. There are no Story Hour programs during the summer so we can focus on our Summer Reading programs.
Is Story Hour ever canceled?
Yes, there are times that Tonya is out of town for a conference, but she tries to include that on the calendar so you will have plenty of notice. During the winter months, Story Hour is cancelled if Pendleton County Schools are cancelled due to bad weather. If you are ever in doubt, please call the library at 859-654-8535.
What about Story Hour parties?
We have four parties during the year: Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter. The library provides plates, cups, napkins, drinks, and some snacks for these parties. Additional donations of snacks or treats for the kids are always welcome. Please remember the snacks need to be store bought.
