Library Closing

As you know, the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has reached the United States.  In order to help maintain the health and safety of our patrons, staff, and community, the Pendleton County Public Library will close effective Tuesday, March 17th until further notice. It is our hope that by limiting close contact we will do our part to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

All scheduled programs are cancelled during this time as well as the usage of our meeting room space.  All bookmobile and outreach services are cancelled. Our drop boxes will not be available for returns. We never charge late fees and ask that all items be kept until we are able to reopen.

This is an unusual situation and we will continue to stay up to date on all information coming from the CDC, State of KY, and our local experts.  We understand the inconvenience associated with this decision and we apologize.  Remember that we have a wealth of materials available online that may be accessed on our website https://pcplibrary.org, such as America’s News and Genealogy Bank, Heritage Quest Online, Universal Class, and Kentucky Libraries Unbound.

Additional information regarding COVID-19, as well as updated testing information, can be found at kycovid19.ky.gov and at www.trdhd.com

We will post updates on Facebook, our marquee, and https://pcplibrary.org.

COVID-19 Informational Sheets

Everyone is concerned about the COVID-19 virus. We, at PCPL, are no exception. As a precaution, we will be adding additional cleaning steps to our routine. Our cleaning crew will be on site an additional day each week to clean the public bathrooms and wipe down door handles with disinfectant wipes. The staff will also be wiping down counters and exit door handles throughout the day with disinfectant wipes. Also, all keyboards and mice are wiped down every evening. Below are the information sheets released by Three Rivers Health Department and St. Elizabeth Physicians. Additional information regarding COVID-19, as well as updated testing information, can be found at kycovid19.ky.gov and at www.trdhd.com

Summer Reading is Coming!!

This year’s theme is “Imagine Your Story”.  Reading is the focus of our program, and reading incentives are used to encourage kids, teens, and adults to keep reading during the summer months.  Our programs are free and geared towards all age groups.  Through programming, we offer experiences that our community might not otherwise be exposed to.  We appreciate so much, the support and participation we receive from everyone in our community.  Our Summer Reading Kick Off will be on Saturday, June 6 at 1 pm.  We have lots of activities planned for the whole family!!

See you there!

Online Submission Forms Are Now Working!

PCPL has forms that can be completed and submitted on our website.  Unfortunately, these forms were not working and we did not know it.  Once the issue was discovered our IT group began working to fix the problem.  Thankfully, they were able to discover the issue and the forms are all now working as expected.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.  If you sent us a request and did not receive a response, we apologize.  We were able to pull the requests sent in the past year and we will be responding to them as they are completed.  If you would like to resend your request just to make sure it was received, please feel free to do so.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.

Libby adds Push Notifications!

Push notifications are now live in Libby, providing a new way to connect with and engage more readers. Users can choose which notifications they’d like to receive from the Libby menu under Manage Notifications, including:
• When a hold becomes available
• When a loan is about to expire
• When a loan has expired
• Notifications are device-specific, so users can set their notification preferences for each device they use Libby on.
• After swiping a push notification, a user will be taken to their Reading Journey for that title, which displays any previous interactions and activity the user had with that book (notes, highlights, time read, etc.).
• Users on devices that don’t support push notifications (or where they’re disabled) can opt to receive notifications via email or in the Libby menu.
• Along with a new Manage Notifications section, notice a refreshed and simplified Libby menu.
• And more!
